New York, NY., April 12, 2021 — It is with profound sadness that NewtonX today announces the passing of Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer Germain Chastel who passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 11. He was 36.
“Our NewtonX community is heartbroken. Germain was an incredible human being, a dear friend, and an inspiring leader,” said Co-Founder Sascha Eder. “He was also an incredible visionary who sought to disrupt the B2B market research space on a global scale. He was energetic and passionate about the work we did and the path that lay ahead and we will miss him deeply.”
The research company has implemented its succession plan and effective immediately Eder will take over as interim CEO, supported by an experienced and tenured senior leadership team. The company also announced that Leon Mishkis will assume some COO duties in his new role as Head of Client Delivery, advancing a previously approved leadership transition plan.
“NewtonX has suffered a tremendous loss with Germain’s passing. Notwithstanding that loss, we are confident that Sascha, as CEO, and the rest of the NewtonX team will execute on the path Germain has set and we’re committed to helping them manage through this difficult time,” said Dan Abelon (Two Sigma Ventures, led Series A).
Chastel founded NewtonX with Eder in 2016 with the vision of leveraging automation and AI to create the best on-demand B2B knowledge access platform. Under his leadership, NewtonX grew revenue 10-fold while serving clients such as Microsoft, eight of the top 10 market research companies and top management consulting firms.
Eder concluded, “Our hearts go out to Germain’s family and everyone who was touched by his passion for life. We ask that his family’s privacy be respected during this challenging and difficult time.”
